Low-Cost "Fix" For Feral Cats

Oct. 16 is National Feral Cat Day, and VCA Columbia Animal Hospital is celebrating with a low-cost spay/neuter clinic for feral and outdoor cats.

The cost is $45 for females and $30 for males. Cats will be neutered/spayed and ear tipped and will receive rabies vaccinations, flea and tick treatments and pain meds.

Low Cost Rabies Vaccines

Baltimore County Animal Services will have a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic from 10 am-noon on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Hannah Moore Park Reisterstown.

Vaccinations are just $8 and will be given to cats, dogs and ferrets. Plan on paying with cash or a check. Credit cards will not be accepted.

Baltimore Area Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinics

Most of these clinics provide spay/neuter services for "owned" cats, as well as ferals. Some also provide other kinds of low-cost veterinary care.

Animal Rescue, Inc. is located at 2 Heritage Farm Drive, New Freedom, PA, on the Maryland/Pennsylvania state line.

Baltimore County Animal Services offers low-cost spays and neuters at its East Side Spay and Neuter Program, 7702 Dunmanway in Dundalk. The $20 fee must be paid in advance by credit or debit card and also includes a rabies vaccination, microchip and county license. An appointment is required.
Community Cats Of Maryland has monthly spay/neuter clinics for feral cats. Visit CCMD's website for more information.

One-Day Vaccine Clinic In Annapolis

If your cats are overdue for their vaccinations, mark Oct. 17 on your calendar. That's the day of the SPCA of Anne Arundel County's next low-cost vaccine clinic.

 Prices at the clinic are $5 for a one-year rabies vaccination, $10 Feline Distemper Vaccine (FVRCP) and $25 for that very important microchip.

Free 'Fix' In Anne Arundel County


If you live in Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Severn or Brooklyn Park and are income eligible, you can get your cats and dogs "fixed" for free at the Spay Spa & Neuter Nook. For information and an appointment, call 443-607-6496.

This targeted spay/neuter program is made possible by a grant from the Maryland Department of Agriculture. To be eligible, you'll have to provide proof of government assistance.

Free Spay/Neuters At BARCS

If you're in zip codes 21215, 21216, 21217, 21223 or 21229, you can get your cat neutered/spayed for free at BARCS.

The free surgeries are funded by a grant from the Maryland Dept. of Agriculture. BARCS and the Maryland SPCA are targeting these zip codes because of the large number of cats and dogs from those areas who are taken to shelters.

: To qualify for help, you'll need to show proof of low or fixed income and a photo ID. Also, your cats will need to be neutered/spayed or the SPCA will want you to be willing to get that done.
